About Us

Chairman Message
The events of recent years have underlined the importance of strong economic policy. Fortunately, Abu Dhabi proved to be resilient to the worst effects of the global downturn. We have a vibrant economy and are fortunate to be blessed with an abundance of natural resources. However, we too will face many challenges over the coming decade.

We seek sustainable growth, job creation and a skilled and highly productive workforce. We want to diversify our economy, create new industries and build an open, effective and globally integrated business environment. This will only be possible with the cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Since its establishment, ADCED has been able to play a leading role in the development of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 in collaboration with Department of Economic Development and the General Secretariat of the Executive Council.

The Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 is an incisive document that embodies the ambition and leadership of our Government.

Delivering this vision is a challenge that will require alignment between the private sector and a number of government agencies, including the Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development (ADCED). We will be judged by our ability to deliver against these ambitions.

ADCED strives to facilitate Abu Dhabi’s diversification by creating greater understanding, cooperation and engagement between the public and private sector. We want to unite business and government leaders to develop a world-class economic environment, foster sustainable growth and develop human capital.

At a time when global and national fiscal policy is critical, the role of an active economic policy adviser could not be more important for Abu Dhabi. ADCED must rise to this challenge.

During 2010 a new board was appointed at ADCED, representing both the public and private sector and bringing valuable experience, new insight and fresh impetus to our stated mission. We will do our very best to provide support and advice to ADCED’s management in times to come.

Together we are contributing to Abu Dhabi’s future development.

HE Nasser Ahmed Al Sowaidi
