Welcome to Akoun

Akoun is an entrepreneurship awareness campaign designed to inspire and empower the youth of Abu dhabi to enter the private sector by setting up their own small/medium businesses.

ADCED together with Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Western Region Development Council and Twofour54° initiated Akoun in 2009 to support the goals of the emirate’s Economic Vision 2030 to expand the SME sector and open new opportunities for entrepreneurs to thrive and grow.

The Campaign is implemented in partnership with:

• Young Emirati entrepreneurs who share their stories and experiences

• Government agencies that provide support such as funding, training etc. for entrepreneurs

Akoun’s goal is to provide the youth of Abu Dhabi with the necessary tools and knowledge to help them take steps toward becoming successful entrepreneurs through:

• Workshops in university campuses in Abu Dhabi

• Akoun competition for best business proposals to encourage students to come up with bright ideas that could lead to the creation of successful businesses

• The AKOUN website – www.adced.ae/akoun which provides information on the campaign, features inspiring stories and sources and entities that promote entrepreneurship
